Sydney Sweeney’s Americana Stumbles at U.S. Box Office but Finds Safety Net in Streaming

 Hollywood, August 2025 — Sydney Sweeney’s new western thriller, Americana, has been hit with harsh box office numbers after its U.S. debut, but the film’s backers say the story is far from over. According to Collider, the movie earned just $500,000 across 1,124 theaters in its opening weekend, averaging a disappointing $436 per screen (collider.com). The poor turnout quickly branded the film a flop, but Lionsgate — which picked up U.S. distribution rights for $3 million — has already recovered much of its cost through international deals.
